I just arrived in Chicago for the weekend with Tom. We are staying in this amazing high rise with the most magnificent view. The tenants are away and let us stay here in their beautiful apartment in their absence. Thank you Katie ad Tyler. As I look out upon the city I can see thousands of windows all compacted into this single square mile. And I think what if somehow I could reach into the window of the soul of all of these people and ask them to donate $1.00, just a $1.00 contribution, how quickly that would add up and make a tremendous difference in funding the research to find the cure.
It sounds doable but how do you reach out to perfect strangers who may not know anyone who has been affected by this devastating disease and ask them to contribute $1.00? To them even for a dollar they probably want to understand the difference it could make in someone's life. But then again it would be asking them for less money than it would cost to buy a cup of coffee. And if only a dollar for this cause then they would have the ability to contribute to many causes that mean something personally to them. So if I could make a wish for this fund-raising campaign it would be this: to have many people feel like they have contributed to the fight and watch the positive impact it can make on those 900,000 lives affected by blood cancer.
